Big Mals constructed two boardwalks next to the river in Riverhead, Auckland.  Both of the boardwalks go through sensitive Archaeological areas so extra care had to be taken when working in the areas.  At the site of the first boardwalk the area had previously been excavated and a number of features were found.  We liaised with the engineers on the design that was based on missing all of the features and the pile locations therefore needed to be set out exactly as per the design.  At the site of the second Boardwalk was an existing Midden feature, so the piles need to be dug under the supervision of the project archaeologist.
